 Lisa Viola, LMT
headshot.jpgLisa Viola has spent many years working in New York City as a modern dancer, most notably as a member of the Paul Taylor Dance Company from 1992-2008, receiving a Bessie Award in 2004 for Sustained Achievement. Since retiring, she continues to teach at the Paul Taylor Dance Company School in New York City and has had the opportunity of restaging his works.  Wanting to find a way to give back to the community of dancers she has been a part of, she decided to focus on massage therapy, knowing from experience how beneficial the work can be on people who rely on having their bodies endure their profession.
In 2009 she enrolled in the Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy in New York, graduating in 2010.
She is a New York State licensed massage therapist and holds a national certification from the NCBTMB (National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork) and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association.  Although a novice with her new career as a massage therapist, Lisa's knowledge and deep understanding of the body, being a former dancer, helps guide her on working on and listening to people from similar backgrounds.  She focuses on using a combination of Swedish massage and deep tissue work to release tension within the muscles and to relax the entire body.  Lisa also holds a certification in Pre-natal massage.
